Type Here About Weight Loss... A brief intro to this section

Health authority statistics show that 50% of Australian men and 35% of Australian women in the 20 - 70 age are overweight to the extent that their weight will adversely affect their health.

Unfortunately because of our increasing dependency on 'fast food' or 'junk food', an alarming 20-30% of children are also presenting with weight problems.

Medical studies have shown that being overweight and obesity are associated with, or aggravate a wide range of health problems.

After the initial consultation at the Clinic with Dr Miller, you will be measured and weighed and provided with information on Dr MacLeods diet.

How Is Dr MacLeods Diet Different From Other Diets?

As well as being a very low calorie diet, the Dr MacLeod diet is also a carbohydrate controlled diet.  By going this extra step, there are two main benefits.

1.   The weight loss is more rapid.

2.   As the excess fat is being "burned up" a group of substances called "KETONES" are produced as a consequence of this fat breakdown.  This ketone production  is an important part of the Dr MacLeods diet. Ketones can be measured in a simple urine test, the presence of ketones in the urine indicating that the diet is correctly balanced.   Ketones also have an appetite suppressing effect so the ketones that are being produced from the excess fat that is being used will stop you from feeling hungry.

Because the Dr MacLeods diet formula is nutritionally complete a number of other benefits will be evident to you - you will feel more energetic and experience a sense of well being.

What Is Involved In The Weight Loss Program?

The Dr MacLeod weight reduction program is flexible and can be tailored to the needs of the individual.

You replace 2 meals per day with a meal replacement formula and complementing vitamin capsules.

You can eat a main meal in the evening - we will advise you of the foods you can eat and provide you with receipes.  Note a high fluid intake is important.

How Much Weight Can I Expect To Lose?

The average weight loss you can expect is about 6kg per month for women and 6-9 kg per month for men.  However, the amount lost from one week to another will vary.

Will I Need To Exercise?

Exercise is an important part of weight control as the only way you will maintain the lower weight in the long term is by being physically more active.  Pedometers are also available at the Clinic to help to monitor your exercise.

Losing weight is not always easy and often requires a great deal of will power and self control.  The Dr MacLeod diet however has been designed to make the process as simple and straight forward as possible.
